Portland Shopping-3 Monkeys

3 Monkeys is a regular stop for the sisters. It can be hit or miss every time. I scored 4 cute pieces and Sister Ex zero. It has an eclectic range of funky clothes, glittering chandeliers, rhinestone jewels, fun tshirts and hats. Very much worth a stop.

Clever window displays showing off their funky personality. Sister Ex is off to our next destination. You can see she's heading toward that cute petite green sign off in the distance. More on that later. This stop is our first after arriving in Portland that's why Sister Ex has only 1 bag. We have only been in town for 15 minutes.

Portland Shopping

It's just not a glamorous business were in....

Sister Ex pulled into the parking lot of this place. She's always up for a new staging adventure. I was uncertain due to the borderline neighborhood and the rundown building but I had my sister so all was fine. It looks like their furniture comes from Motel 6 but we found a couple of tables that could work for us.

I even liked these curtains. There were a ton of them and could be used in a cool space. Perhaps repurposed in the photo below.

Portland Shopping-Fabric Depot

A necessary stop on our Portland "to-do" list. Fabric Depot! Mountains of fabric housed in an unremarkable space. It is so large that it has a "conceirge". I love that so many people are sewing, quilting and designing. A fabulous stop for inspiration and motivation.

Our inspiration for this fabric is the pillow in the next photo.

Some of our purchases.

This fabric will be made into large 22" pillows.

A Pretty Vignette

One of my favorite vignettes in my entry way. Sister Extraordinaire bought us both the wonderful jewel boxes but I liked them much better in my entry way. She is on the look out for more so we can have them in our bedrooms. The feathers are from Grace Home Furnishings in Brentwood CA., the elephant is from Revival Home and Garden (I think), white vase from Northwest Wholesale Florist.

Paving her way

{photo:tommyton for french vogue}

Been following this savy young teen's witty blog stylerookie.  So has millions of others. Tavi has been blogging fashion for 2 years and has received a ton of attention. Photographed sitting in the front row at Fashion Week and major magazines-she plowing her own way on her own terms. Very refreshing. Check this article from StyleFrizz.

My Inspiration

{countryliving}

So fun to run into this photo online. This is the inspiration for painting my dining room table a high gloss light blue, the chairs a high gloss white and the upholstery different on the end chairs. When I went in search of the discontinued Martha Stewart paint color I found out that it is actually a GREEN! So I went in search of my own blue.

Would love to dazzle you even more with professional photographs. But you get the idea. Love that I took a risk-believe me it was scary. If the blue clashes with one of my sets of china then I add a cool heavy upholstery-grade white vinyl table cloth. It creates a modern twist with the ornate-ness of it all.

My dining set was found at auction by Lisa Gleason. It was a 70's stained wood with red crushed velvet upholstery.

Staging Seattle

I found this townhouse at first glance to be unexciting and kind of a yawner. Staging changed all of that. We were thrilled with the results. Now it has a great vibe. Just light some candles, pop in a disc and have some friends over. Sold!

Had the owners take down the coat rack. The result was a simple little inviting entry. It doesn't take much to change even the modest of spaces.

This adorable property is listed by Lynn Schofield from Newberry Realty.
